Week 13: Miracles Do Happen and are Sometimes Delicious

Good morning, salutations and howdy to all of you, my lovely family and friends! I hope you are having the best of days and have had the best week! Let's get down to it, shall we?

First: Zone Conference was this week! It was really uplifting and inspiring and as always, even though I've only been twice, way to much information to take in at once. I'm still processing it all but it was great! Got to see some MTC friends so that was great! One thing I really liked from it all was that it's important for us to be our genuine selves as we go out and share the gospel. God called me to serve, not some robot. Which is good, because I think a robot would rust in all this rain we've been getting :-) jokes aside, I am glad that I am who I am and that I have the privilege of meeting so many new and interesting people every day.

We also had one of the Assistants to our Mission President (basically he is just another missionary but spends a lot more time in the office and knows how the whole mission is doing) come and stay with us for a day. It was really interesting walking around in a trio because it makes us a look a little imposing walking down the street. Add a member who was coming with us to visit someone and you've got a nice squad going down the street. But it was really fun and I learned a lot from him.

This week we had about 10 appointments scheduled and every single one except one fell through. But that okay because the one that didn't is where the title of this email comes from!

The area I cover has about 5 or 6 major towns. We spend most of our time in the central town Holsworthy, but this Saturday we were coming back from Plymouth and decided to stop for lunch in the southern town of our area, Launceston. You should look it up, it's pretty cool. Anyways, we parked in town and were walking to find a place to eat. Walking down the sidewalk, a man stopped us and shook our hand. I thought he was going to try and sell us something, but it turns out he met with missionaries two years ago and then never met with missionaries again. We asked his name and when he told us, we were so excited because we had his contact information given to us by another set of missionaries (Launceston was only added to our area a month ago) and had been trying to get a hold of him but only had an address. We had stopped by a few times but no one answered. And here he was, stopping us in the middle of the street in a town we never spend time in. It was a miracle. We went back and saw him on Monday and he is the kindest man. He gave us some ties and we got to know him. We're going back on Saturday to teach him again and I can't wait. We felt the spirit while teaching him, and I believe that we were meant to meet him. So if you could keep Morris in your prayers I'd appreciate it.

The latter part of my title comes form the fact that after our miracle encounter with Morris, we asked him where was the best place for lunch. He pointed us to a bakery and it was fantastic. Also cheap. It was a win win. My family knows I'm a sucker for bakeries and that experience was the bow on top of a miraculous encounter.

British word of the week: loo - bathroom

British Food of the Week: Gherkin - they do not call them pickles here. No One knows what you're talking about when you say pickle.

Companion Comic: not really something funny he did but just the first picture attached

Scripture of the Week: Helaman 5:12 This is a fairly well known scripture in the Mormon faith. It tells us that if we build on Christ, when the winds of the devil come upon you, you won't fall. I love this because it shows that the devil will send "shafts" at everyone; it's a matter of when, not if. However, building on Christ can hold us firm when the storms do come.

Thank you for your letters and your emails. I love them so much. I love you all so much and thank you for your support. Until next time,
