Week 31: Boscastle, more like Boss castle

Image
Hey everybody! I don't have much time today because we went to a really cool place called Boscastle (I'll attach some pics). I've had a really good week and it's been full of God's hand and speaking to really interesting people. First up, DON'T send any letters to my address until next week because moves calls happen  Saturday  and I could stay and I could go so who knows.  Thursday  I was kind of feeling a bit down but we just kept working hard and we went back to a road that I wanted to knock a few weeks ago. Then we were able to find three people who said we could come share more with them! It was really a tender mercy and showed me that God walks with us always.  Friday  night we were supposed to have dinner with our friend Ruth at the house of some members here, but she texted us and said she went 30 minutes in the wrong direction so she had to cancel. It was disappointing but also a blast because Elder Moorcroft and I cooked dinner for the m...

Week 30: Spontaneous snowstorms and windowsill gardens

Goodness gracious. Honestly, I'm not even sure where to begin this one today, so I guess I'll just start and see where this takes me.  Wednesday we were able to go visit Mae and her family. We had an amazing meal of Adobo and pancit and oh my goodness I just love filipino food. They're such a good family and I'm so glad God allowed our paths to cross.  We also had zone interviews and conference! We were in Poole for two days and it was really fantastic. I really just love being able to spend time with other missionaries I don't see often and getting to learn and grow with them. We received a massive amount of training on how we can be better teachers and what we can to do help people come unto Christ. It was all really wonderful. Shout out to my friend Elder Rhee for cooking a fantastic Cafe Rio inspired feast for us as well. What blows my mind is that there are around 14 weeks left for the existence of the England London South Mission. Much of the train...

Week 29: My job is the greatest

I honestly can't believe that I'm sitting here writing another email yet again. I feel like I did this yesterday. This one won't be as long as normal but I'll do my best.  On Tuesday last week we met this cool lady named Ruth. We were supposed to go and see her  Wednesday  night but we couldn't find anyone to come with us and so we could only go and talk with her on her doorstep. I was feeling really down about it all because we tried everything and anything to try and get another person there (background: we cannot enter the home of a single woman unless we are accompanied by another man, it's just a policy) but nothing worked. Also, we live out in the sticks, so there wasn't any public place that was open at  7 pm  when we were supposed to see her. I was just a bit frustrated about it all. We decided to still go and see her and just speak with her at the door. It was wonderful. We get along really well. She's the kind of person I definitely would w...

March 11, 2018 English Mother's Day

Finnegan McKinley  is with  Alto Fairbain  and  Jaime Clemmer . March 11  ·  Alma 56:47 "yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them." Hey mom. There will be a letter in the post for American Mother's Day, but for now, a Facebook post will have to do. Thank you for loving God like no other woman I know. Thank you for trusting Him. Thank you for loving my father. Thank you for laughing with him. Thank you for loving my siblings. Thank you for cherishing us. Our late night chats with me at the foot of your bed having become like the mount of beatitudes for me, for it was at your feet that I learned of God. Thank you for laughing with me, crying with me, praying with me, and standing with me. Thank you for being my best friend. Happy Mother's Day in a UK sort of way. -)

Week 28: The Pilgrims Left Plymouth for a Good Reason (Don't Forget to Pray You See It)

So this week was interesting. The title of my email is an homage to fall out boy (not that I even like fallout boy but the whole "Wow that random sentence that is kind of meta could be a fallout boy song" meme is one of the three I can remember). If you're unaware of who fallout boy is, join the club.  England had snow! And I didn't really get to see any of it :-( We were down in Plymouth for a meeting with some other missionaries and by the time the meeting ended we learned that there was snow all over the roads that we had to take and all the members in our branch said "don't you even think about driving in this weather" even though it wasn't all that much snow. But, exercising caution, we made the decision to not travel home  Thursday  night.  Wednesday  night, before the storm hit but everyone and their uncle thought it was coming, we were at the house of one of my favourite families here, the Cavaneys. They recommend we throw a changed cloth...
