Week 34: Merging conference calls and jump roping salmon

So this week has been a bit crazy but also really normal. So let's get into it.

Thursday we had a broadcast from President Nelson (the prophet of our church), Sister Nelson, Elder Holland (an apostle of our church), and Sister Holland. There were two broadcasts, one for all the missionaries in the United kingdom and then one for all the members. They were both amazing. I know he's a prophet of God and is inspired. He and all those who spoke shared some really deep and powerful thoughts and I loved them. It was also fun because we had a dinner appointment with a BYU sociology professor and his family. They're just here for 5 months. It's weird to think I could one day take a class from him at BYU. It was a blast.

Friday we had exchanges! I was with Elder Pongbundit. He's such a kind person. He's from Thailand and only has a month left as a missionary. He's a really great cook. It was fantastic begin able to work with him and being able to get to know him more.

Saturday we finished up exchanges and we had two baptisms! A man named Mike and a man named Sungwon, taught by the Sisters and the other elders respectively, were baptised. It was a really great service. They're both such amazing individuals and they're so kind and have a deep love for God. Also, Mike is hilarious. He's from China and he goes back at the end of the month. He told the Sisters that one of them was rational and that was good and that the other was emotional but that was good too. He's a funny guy.

Church on Sudnay was really wonderful as well. I just love church here. There's so many different people that all come together under one roof to worship God. It's absolutely brilliant. We then had dinner at the house of the Beatles burdened Eleanor Wrigley. We were able to meet some of the YSA (young single adults) who live here too. It's so fantastic to be around people our age.

Monday was pretty regular except for that it was Elder Quilter's birthday so we celebrated with ice cream and cake and cookies and I'm now half a stone heavier. It was worth it for sure.

Yesterday was a bit rough. However, we showed God that we still wanted to work hard and do His will and we were able to meet three people who said we could come back and share more with them. One of them works at the Bodleian Library! Oxford is the best.

Companion Comic: so after the baptism on Saturday night, we were on our way home from the church with the other 5 missionaries. We got on the bus and made our way home. When we got off the bus stop, Elder Burton shook the other missionaries' hands like "a jump roping salmon (as described by Sister howland)". Then the next day we got on the bus to go to church and it was the same bus and the same bus driver. When elder Burton got on the bus, the driver was like "are you the guy who shakes hands like this *does the jump roping salmon motion*" and I couldn't stop laughing.

I wanted to end with this. God answers our prayers. Specifically when we are praying for others and not ourselves. I had a really spiritual experience where I asked the Lord to lead us to someone who needed to hear our message. While we were out knocking doors, I had the distinct impression to go to a different street and knock on this specific door. A man came to the door and I said "we felt we needed to knock on your door and share our message with you" and he let us come in and teach him. It was amazing. It was an absolute miracle. God hears your prayers. He loves you. I know He does.

Thank you for the love and support. I'd love to hear from you! Also, my address is actually flat 2, Cedar Court. Sorry for the typo. Love you loads.
