Good morning everyone! It's been a long, miracle filled week here in Holsworthy so I'm going to get right down to business, after a quick announcement:
My mission is closing.
The England London South Mission is being consolidated into two other missions. For the time being, I'm unsure of what mission I will be reassigned to but it will either be the England Birmingham Mission or the England London Mission. So we'll all have to stay tuned for what happens there.
This week was a good one. We had to get our car fixed so it involved a lot of driving around and waiting for this and that but it's almost all good now! So that took a bunch if time this week. However, we were still able to meet with some friends and reach them about the gospel to Jesus Christ! It has been so amazing and fun. On Friday we had a miracle. We had five appointments and none of them fell through! It was absolutely amazing! We had the opportunity to teach two of our friends who are preparing to be baptised. Their names are Sammi and Mae. Prayers for both would be appreciated. They're both awesome individuals who have sweet spirits and are really earnest in wanting to develop a better relationship with with God.
On Sunday, we had dinner at the house of some members here along with about 20 other people from the branch. It was a really great evening and Mae was able to come as well and she loved it! She's so excited for her baptism on the 24th of February. She's a good kid. We taught her twice this past week and she always says the sweetest prayers, which usually include something about her being thankful we "came to her house and gave her knowledge" and "sorry that I didn't do this thing because mom was late and we didn't have time". She hilarious.
We had so many miracles occur this week but I wanted to just share a few. First up, Sammi, one of the people we are teaching, told us that she watched a video we sent her and then watched all the other videos on that website and then watched the 2017 Worldwide Missionary Broadcast. It's a great broadcast that is meant to helps missionaries for our church better understand their purpose. It's a really good broadcast I highly recommend it. It's also about an hour long. I can barely ever get people to watch a 2 minute video and Sammi watched the entire broadcast! She said it made her want to be more open with us about her concerns and questions and we were able to help her understand things she had questions about because of it! It was a really crazy miracle and she is just a really kind person who's seen a lot of trials but is pressing forward through life like a champ. The other miracle also involves videos. We have another friend who we are teaching who's just a really stand up guy. He's seen some terribly thought times lately that have prevented us from seeing him. We felt we should stop by Sunday night and we were able to visit with him. We spoke for a long time and then set a time to come back the next day. Upon our return, he said that he had not only watched the two minute video we sent him, but he'd also watched 4 hours worth of other videos and things he found interesting. One of which was a movie about Joseph Smith that he wanted to watch again! We were absolutely blown away. We asked if we could come back and watch it with him and he agreed. Following the movie, we talked for awhile and we are now working with him to help him find out whether or not the church is true :-)
Miracles I tell you. Miracles.
British Word of the Week: tyres - tires; this one I just don't get
British Food of the Week: scone - omgoodness these are heavenly and with a bit of jam and cream they're even better
Companion Comic: Elder Moorcroft last night felt we should drive through the village centre (even though it was 8 o'clock and no one is ever there then) and as we drove through, he decided that we needed to talk to a certain person. So we parked the car very legally and then went to talk to this person. We're seeing her tonight to share more :-) the funny thing was that it was minus 2 and we did not have the time to put our costs on. So yeah it was cold. But good.
Scripture of the Week: 3 Nephi 26:9-10 God can't bless us with understanding beyond what we are ready to receive. Once we receive the things He's given us through scriptures and the prophets, then we are primed and ready to receive the understanding He has for us.
It snowed yesterday but not enough for it to stick. Meh. Still fun though.
I love you all so much and I'm grateful for your love and support, especially this past week. This is my invitation to you for this next week. Take sometime and think about something you've either wanted to do for a long time or something you have felt like you should do for a long time and go for it (so long as it's a good thing). I meet so many people (and especially one in particular) who feel like something is missing or there is something that they think they should do but just haven't. God expects us to take leaps of faith now and then and we may not know what will happen but if we have faith in Him and we knows there's something we need to do but aren't, just take that step and do it. It may be hard, but it will be worth it. I promise.
I love you all and stay safe this week!
