Zone conference was really amazing. Not only did I get to see some old mission friends, but Elder Sabin had some really great thoughts about missionary. This applies to everything in life too. Our happiness and joy comes down to choice. Yeah there are some things we can't control, but at the end of the day, when we choose to set the sails and catch the winds of life rather than just let them best us down, we will find happiness.
Thank you for you prayers. Mae was baptised this week! She is the cutest little thing and she has the sweetest spirit. I was able to confirm her a member of the church (see
mormon.org and search the holy Ghost for details). It was as really special experience. I'm so proud of her and so grateful that I've been able to be a part of her journey and that I'll continue to be a part of her journey through life. After her baptism, she gave a brief testimony and said "I know the church is true, I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that he restored the gospel and I know that we have a prophet today named Russell M. Nelson and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen." It was one of the best testimonies I've ever heard. She had so much familial support too! It was just such a special day and it still warms my heart thinking about it.
Sister Jerusalem went finished her mission this week and so now the Exeter District will be getting a new sister missionary. We're sad to see her go but we know she's got a great future ahead of her back home in the Philippines. Also, my main missionary Elder Still is leaving me all alone in Plymouth and going to Peckham (the middle of london) so now my friend Elder Rhee and I have been in this area the longest of any missionaries around here. I'm basically an old man. Shout out as well to Sister Lopez and Elder Neuendorf for their diligent efforts as they now head back to Spain and Germany respectively. All my friends are leaving me :-( that's okay though because I've still got amazing people to work with around this area of Devon and Cornwall.
Speaking of this area, England has been hit with a massive cold front and it's freezing. Everywhere is getting snow. EXCEPT FOR US. You could say I'm a bit salty and it's not just because of the salt on the road. I'm putting a spoon under my pillow tonight in hopes for a winter wonderland tomorrow.
British Word of the Week: poorly - sick
British Food of the Week: fish finger sandwich - I don't know how British this is but hey I had it here so it counts
Companion Comic: So we are doing service for Brother Manners and we are riding along on the back of his land rover, stopping every hundred yards down this country lane picking up wood for the fire and to clear the lane. We suddenly come across an intact dead pheasant. That he proceeds to put on my lap. And take a photo of me with. So yeah. Dead pheasant. Wasn't expecting that when I woke up that morning.
We also went to visit some elderly women in our branch who have been poorly and in hospital. We were able to lift their spirits and provide some much needed company. It was a bit depressing though to see so many people who were I'll and lonely. So if you've got the time, and you know someone in hospital, pop by and give them a visit will you? It will make their week, I promise you.
I'll end with a spiritual story to close us out. On Sunday, I had just the quietest whisper tell me I should call this man named Gary. So I did and we were able to set up a time to meet yesterday. We met together and share our message and he accepted it wholeheartedly. It was an amazing visit and it energised me. And to think it all happened because of that one tiny whisper. When you hear those tiny whispers, act on them and see what God has in store for you. I love you all and thanks for your love, prayers and support.
